My brother named his dog after an ex-girlfriend, thereby accomplishing two important tasks with one word: identifying the puppy for him and for us, and expressing a certain… resentment? toward a person who screwed up his life for awhile. And no, I’m not saying it went all one way. Perhaps the ex-girlfriend named her pet snake after my brother. Who knows?
